NEWS FROM 2020
The 2020 Committee has been charged with
the task of designing a plan for moving College Hill United Methodist Church
successfully through the year 2020. The initial survey report was posted on the
website under the 2020 Committee to the congregation in October 2005. Since that
time we have moved through several workshops in which the entire congregation
was invited to participate.
The most recent and final congregation
exercise was the Spiritual Needs Assessment which included 12 groups each lead
by two congregation members trained to lead this very important part of the
information-gathering process. Each group met three times for two hours. The
total number of congregants that took part in the spiritual needs assessment was
96. The group leaders met for a Friday evening and all-day Saturday session to
compile the data gathered in the individual meetings. Thank you to all who took
part; you communicated the “voice of CHUM” to your leadership. This information
will be fundamental to the ultimate design of the final plan.
What next? The 2020 group has recently met
in a retreat seating and is developing goals and timelines that were derived
from the workshops and the Spiritual Needs Assessments. The needs and desires of
the congregation include all areas within the church from missions to facilities
and finances to the spiritual needs of the congregants and everything in
between. The results of this retreat and other meetings will be presented to the
Church Council for discussion and approval. We will then begin the process of
designing action plans for the accomplishment of the prioritized items as
approved by the Church Council. The approved plan will then be delegated to the
appropriate church committees and working ad hoc groups for implementation.
STAY TUNED: THE BEST IS YET TO COME!
