>>Reaching Out to Others
Reaching Out to Others (in Church lingo - "Missions")
In John 6:1-14 Jesus takes five loaves of bread and two fish and feeds about five thousand people.  Jesus showed his followers how something small, when given in love and compassion, can turn into a huge offering.  At College Hill we take that lesson seriously and connect our hearts and hands as we reach out to others in service and love.

Our 2010 Mission Projects are:

  • Mission and Ministry Funds   To read more about this and all mission areas of the United Methodist Church go here.

On-going Mission Projects are:

  • Brookside UMC Clothing Store located at Brookside United Methodist Church, 2760 S. Roosevelt.  A collection box is located on the main floor next to the elevator.  If you would like to volunteer at the store, please contact Brookside at 682-9034.
  • Campbell's Soup labels and General Mill Box tops for Education are collected for McCurdy Mission School in New Mexico. Many classroom supplies such as P.E. equipment; audio-visual equipment (TV/VCR), calculators for students; rhythm and band instruments; cassette players, camcorders, overhead projectors and even 15 passenger vans are received through labels. McCurdy needs more than a million labels this year for their anticipated needs.
  • Change for Change  Loose change in the Sunday offering at 8:30 & 11am goes to yearly designated missions projects.  "Loaves &  Fish" Offering at 9:40 worship goes to feed the hungry.
  • Drop-in Center Sack Lunches   Every other month,  Groups/Individuals prepare sack lunches for the United Methodist Drop-in Center.  This is a project shared by the children and adults; it is a project of love.
  • Empowering Haiti  A charitable group started by a number of individuals who have a passion for helping Haiti.  Opportunities will be available throughout the year to participate in volunteer work trips, organizational support and/or individual giving.
  • GraceMed Health Clinic  Volunteer at the clinic and/or donate non-prescription medications.
  • Helping Hands Food Pantry  College Hill UMC oversees a small food pantry to help those in need in our community.  A yearly Food Drive is held in addition to monthly requests to restock the pantry.
