PARLOR ARTIST - Sherry Waters
Sherry Waters was born and raised in Wichita, KS, and fell in love with art at
an early age. She lived in College Hill and her mother, who worked, wanted
to make sure Sherry kept busy so art was one of the many opportunities she got
to experience.
Sherry graduated from Wichita State University and in 1990 began painting under
the direction of Kandy Tage. It was through that experience that her love
for art and God's creation came together. "The Heaven's Declare the Glory
of God" and it was her intense desire to be able to put her talents and
appreciation for what she saw into her work.
Sherry has always loved color and in the summer of 1998 she traveled to El
Dorado to work under the direction of Marilyn Grisham and learned the art of
fiber collage. This expereince has taken her into different directions and
along with that she began to quilt.
Her carreer has been in teaching on the middle school level and college.
Sherry says, "This has been the best of all possible ways to spend my life;
teaching stuendts the love of art and the opportunity to problem solve and
create as well." Sherry retired this past May and now get to create more
on her own and enjoy her growing family.
